WHEN AH WAS SINGLE

When ah wis single ah used tae comb ma hair

Noo ah’m merrit ah haveny the time tae spare

It’s a life, a life, a weary weary life

Yer better tae be single than tae be a merrit wife

When ah wis single ah partied aa nicht

Noo ah’m merrit ah’ve had an awfy fright

One says Mammy, can ah get some candy

The ither says Mammy, can ah play wi Andy

When ah wis single ah went shoppin fur masel

Noo ah’ m merrit there’s fifty kids as well

One says Mammy, ah can read by masel

The ither says Mammy, ah’m stuck up on the shelf

When ah wis single ah’d makeup on ma face

Noo ah’m merrit ah look a right disgrace

One says Mammy, ah’m hangin on the licht

The ither says Mammy, can ah sleep wi you the nicht

SAVE THE AMAZING OCEAN EVERY DAY

Tune: Here comes one Johnny Cuckoo

I go down to the ocean, ocean, ocean

I go down to the ocean at the end of every day

I catch fish wi ma fishin rod

At the end of every day

I find shells on the seashore

At the end of every day

I get vanilla icecream

At the end of every day

I like to walk on the tickly sand

At the end of every day

There shouldn’t be rubbish in the ocean

Plastic bottle and bags

Put them in the bin, not the ocean

So the fish and the birds can live

SUFFRAGETTE SONG

Tune: Eppie Moray

Fighting for equality, to be understood

Women fighting for the vote, as all women should

Votes for women now, they said, votes for women now x 2

Emmaline Pankhurst, she led the suffragettes

Speeches, meetings, and campaigns, they posed an awful threat

They wore colourful sashes, purple, green and white

Their banners were the brightest, to show that they were right

‘You don’t deserve it’, said the men, ‘You shouldn’t vote’

But the women carried on, they never gave up hope

The people would not listen, so some buildings they burned down

They spared the innocent children as the women stood their ground

They tied themselves to railings, so that folk might understand

They wore chains and handcuffs on their bodies and their hands

Sent to jail and treated badly by the men

They said ‘We are on hunger strike, we’ll never eat again’ [not here!]

Running fast around the track, an exciting race

The crowd screamed and cheered when the King’s horse quickened pace

Suddenly a woman ran out at the Royal horse

She protested but got killed, people felt remorse

Fighting for equality, to be understood

Women fighting for the vote, as all people should
